The brief for this beachside development was to redevelop an existing site positioned directly on the popular and stunning beach front, location on the south coast. The vision is to design a scheme fitting of this site and deliver a low energy and sustainable new building that engages with the unique setting, and improve the long term economic viability of the café by improving the layout and increasing dinning cover’s within a durable structure that is suitable for use throughout the more of the year. The spectacular beachside setting brought a specialist set of challenges for the design. The severe weather conditions impacting the site need to be designed for, for example flood zones need to be explored and accounted for and marine grade needed to be used as a standard throughout the design.
