Further to obtaining planning consent and all statutory approvals, OWL Architects managed the construction of the helicopter facility incorporating a hangar, landing pad and fuel installation for Bond Air Services. The dockside site is leased from Associated British Ports and is to act as a support base for the service and maintenance of the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm - a project headed by Scottish and Southern Electricity. Drainage (and pollution control), together with unknown ground conditions were key issues to be resolved and the hangar was sourced as a design and build package. The project also entailed negotiation with a number of different stakeholders.
