The Canterbury Academy is a long-standing client of OSG and we were delighted to be given the opportunity to work with the school again. Our brief stemmed from the need to expand the current school intake of children due to recent School closures within the area. We were asked to produce a feasibility study to establish development options that would allow a long-term future expansion of the school. The main development included the provision of 20 new classrooms, drama suite and associated facilities. Other elements to the commission included new car parking and refurbishment of the schools existing Science and Food Technology classrooms. The scheme was a finalist in not one but three awards which included LABC ‘Best Educational Building’ The RICs ‘Community Benefit’ awards and was shortlisted for ‘Architectural Practice Of The Year’ in The Education Estates Awards
