The Caposile Apartment is a renovated space that combines architecture and craftsmanship to transform an old apartment into a warm and vibrant family house through bespoke interior design and joinery. The apartment is located in a building that was originally built in the 1920s and has undergone several minor renovations. Knowing this, the client was keen to transform the space into a modern family house by implementing a contemporary design. The ultimate aim for the Caposile apartment was to create a house within the limits of 200sqm that can constantly be lived in, enjoyed and rediscovered by the creation of spaces within spaces. Alterations in scale, both in each individual room and their ceiling heights, combined with the careful design of the lighting conditions and the selection of a variety of finishes, this imagines a boundary for each of the spaces with a unique atmosphere. The idea of enlarging the space was achieved in the design and by manipulating the perceptions of these spaces. Using tall, seamless doors, creating openings within the central wall and merging deconstructivist elements allow the occupant to perceive the space as being bigger than it actually is.   The central, structural wall in the apartment is the main element dividing the space into 2 parts, from which the living areas are formed. The wall immediately becomes the main feature, with one side serving as storage and shelves for the kitchen, and the other as a space for exhibiting paintings and artworks
