Our client, for whom we had worked previously, purchased a redundant 1970s city-centre office building. We took the project from initial sketch ideas through to completion [novated for D&B construction] The 14 storey building was converted into 148 apartments, the majority of which are two bedroom units Design aspects which were key to the project's success were: - the conversion of the top floor plant rooms to duplex penthouses - the creation of a roof top garden on the 8th floor roof for communal use - a communal 'garden room' off the new rooftop garden An ugly building was visually improved by replacing small windows with full height glazed screens and adding large balconies to many of the apartments. The apartments were so highly sought after that the majority were purchased off plan. Our client said "O’LearyGoss Architects’ designs for Number One Bristol have completely regenerated what was once a disused 1970’s office building into a first rate, exceptionally sought after residential address in the heart of Bristol’s city centre. O’LearyGoss Architects worked with us from initial concept designs to the end of construction to ensure that the Number One Bristol development was delivered both as a commercial success and an enhancement to the centre of the city."
