The 'slot house' is a contemporary bespoke new build 2 bedroom house and garden. It utilised the proposed site to its fullest gaining essential amenity space as well as a spacious interior on what is a small and odd shaped site. The emphasis of the design was influenced by the shape and restrictions of the site and with the use of eco/green building methods. This house used a structural system which of sustainable solid timber cut to shape fitted to a bespoke raft foundation. The components such as windows and doors used high spec glazing methods and sustainable timber. The zinc roof cantilevers over the building to help to shield from the hot sun where possible front and back and the lower rear roof is a green sedum roof. The main entrance door is extra wide to allow ease of access as well as getting furniture in a out and also to give the illusion of more space. The narrow hall conceals storage and a cloakroom to the right as you enter. You move through to an expanding space which is the main living space and kitchen area. The rear living space extends into the walled rear garden space and allows a feeling of extended living space into the private garden and vice versa. The first floor space is reached via a bespoke oak tread which cantilever of a central spine staircase to two light and airy bedrooms looking front and back with a modern bathroom shared between the two.
