To design new rear addition and complete internal alterations to a high standard of design and quality given the clients budget. Emphasis was on the design and detailing to achieve a balance between a 1930s period house, and incorporate contemporary features in a transitional way within a to enhance and harmonise the house as one. A cloak room and walk in laundry and traditional larder was also achieved on ground floor. A bespoke mobile island was also fabricated to allow flexibility of the kitchen space. I tried to increase the amount of light deep into the building. This meant separating the roofs and pulling natural light between the roofs as well as from above. The rear doors on the rear elevation being at different angles and heights to each other and thus to decrease the visual mass of the rear addition. These were set underside a cantilevered zinc roof. The rear addition specially rendered in thin coat render system. We worked closely with the local planners to achieve a considered and interesting approach.
