Dundee City

A project incorporating two phases, for works to an existing 1970’s concrete frame higher education building. Works included extensive remodelling of the south elevation and complete refurbishment back to shell of level 4. The project was for the School of Science, Engineering and Technology in the Kydd Building. The south elevation was extensively remodelled over 3 storeys. Oberlanders facilitated the clients desire to create a more open treatment of the façade to activate the space, allowing the public to see into newly created laboratory spaces. Internally level 4 was taken back to the concrete frame and new teaching laboratories, food technology department and food sensory facilities created. Oberlanders were pivotal in coordinating the heavily serviced areas, and the incorporation of new methods of teaching with smart desks, links from students screens to teaching screens and developing optimal laboratory layouts.
