Guildford
Nye Saunders were known to Guildford Borough Council for their conservation work and were approached in 2013 by engineers Cooper & Withycombe to assist with carrying out a general conditions survey of the Guildford Museum building. Out of this a repairs programme was developed to be carried out in a number of phases. The first phase being taking down of an unstable Victorian chimney and repairs to an earlier mediaeval chimney and adjacent clunch waling. Additionally, Nye Saunders also carried out a survey to establish a repairs programme for high level stone repairs, repointing and render repairs to Guildford Castle. A scheduled ancient monument consent was negotiated and obtained from Historic England and Listed Building Consent approval was also obtained after discussions with the Council’s own conservation team. Specifications of work were prepared, tenders sought and the work overseen under a JCT Minor Works building contract.
