We were approached by a domestic client with a very limited budget who wanted to add space to their home for (full time) office use as well as guest accommodation. Due to the limited budget available and the constraints of the existing site, it was not feasible to extend or alter the existing property. The house had a single detached garage which was unused and was not practical to be used for parking. We suggested demolishing the garage and constructing a timber framed building on the existing slab. A shower room was included within the design, together with a store and home office which could incorporate a sofa-bed for use as guest accommodation. The building features a timber frame and cedar cladding and is highly insulated. The project cost including demolition of the garage, landscaping the garden and constructing the building was under £30,000.
