The site for this competition set problems for the designer looking to reinforce a sense of place in the neighbourhood. The scheme is to consist of 12 apartments. In each dwelling a high, bright space has been designed adjacent to the best prospect of the outside; either street, balcony or garden. The corner of the flats opens up in three dimensions - across the street, along the street and up towards the sky. The timber frame building is to be clad in clear polycarbonate sheet, revealing the coloured and striped pattern of the construction behind. The design process has been in collaboration with artist Martin Richman.
