The Royce Institute forms the hub of a £235m government investment in advanced materials technology. Located at the heart of the University of Manchester’s engineering campus, the institute will house world-leading materials scientists, state-of-the-art equipment and collaborative space for industrial engagement. Sited prominently on a public square like a ‘Cathedral to Science’, the massing and façade articulation are designed to engage scientists, industry and the public, to showcase the institute’s mission, and to provide a flexible environment for world-class research.
