This project formed the second phase of the redevelopment of the Seaham Hall complex. The spa is linked directly to the hotel by an underground route. Facilities include fitness and treatment suites, a free form indoor/outdoor pool and high quality restaurant and cafeteria areas all with views into the mature landscape of the grounds surrounding the Hall. The spa at Seaham Hall is intended to operate independently of the hotel. It is a destination spa, with benefits for the hotel in terms of accommodation but deliberately moving away from the traditional approach of having a leisure club tacked on as an afterthought. It can be accessed from the Hall along a timber walkway running above an underground stream and over a series of weirs. Internal Japanese and water gardens separate the various activities, and running water links the reception area to the swimming pool, as well as the exotic wet treatments. Snail showers supplement the standard offerings and a rasul and Moorish bath have been provided in addition to traditional steam and sauna, while heated ceramic couches provide relaxation. Wet and dry flotation chambers and hydrotherapy baths provide a unique series of experiences not found in the UK. A tropical pool with massage stations, hydrotherapy pool, ice fountain, plunge pools, out door hot tubs, roof garden and Thai brasserie, supplement the 17 treatment rooms which offer a most comprehensive range of treatments. A gymnasium and aerobic studio provide opportunities for exercise. A relaxation room featuring massage chairs electronically controlled and using sound waves for vibration provide a sense of measured wellbeing, as well as provide relief to sports related injuries.
