Wellingborough
£250,000 to £499,999
Within a Conservation Area
The Studio , 63 West Street , Ecton , NORTHAMPTON , NN6 0QF , United Kingdom
Our scheme has gained recognition for breathing new life into what was the location of a disused laundry processing factory. The factory had been closed since 2008 and was an unsightly combination of buildings which created a blotch on the map of the Wellingborough conservation area. By demolishing the factory and replacing it with much needed homes, the area is once again part of the community. Conscious of the need for cohesion between our site and its surroundings the scheme aimed to inherit the urban grain of the area and has been designed for modern town centre living. Gable ends are used to add variety and interest to the roof-scape while carefully selected boundary features and a mixture of traditional details reflect the historic area. Part of the scheme has been named Laundry Close to recognise its origins. The £2m housing scheme achieves Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and was developed by emh Group. The units are available for rent, sale or on a part buy, part rent basis. As well as emh group’s resources, the scheme is funded by the Homes&Communities Agency, public subsidy from Wellingborough Borough Council and the Recycled Grant Fund.
