MWE Architects have collaborated with Countylife Homes for many years on a range of high-quality residential developments across Northumberland. Riggsacre involved the redevelopment of a site in Corbridge to create two five-bedroom homes, both of which were sold off-plan within months of release. The principal elevation has been designed to reflect the scale and character of the existing buildings along Appletree Lane. To the rear, the natural drop in ground level allowed for the introduction of a lower ground floor, giving the appearance of three storeys while remaining sensitive to the surrounding context. Traditional materials—stone, render and slate—were selected to sit comfortably within the conservation area, while the introduction of contemporary elements lends the development a distinct and modern identity.
