Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
A full architectural and interior refurbishment for a growing household in Little Venice. London. As families evolve, so must their homes. MWAI was invited to reimagine a duplex apartment on the upper floors of a Victorian terrace in Little Venice, transforming it into a calm, characterful retreat for a young family. The brief called for minimalism — but not austerity. We began with the entrance hall, a finely crafted space that sets the tone for the entire home. A linear pattern of soft-textured polished plaster creates a sense of quiet rhythm, echoed in the geometry and material palette throughout. In the bathroom, chevron-cut marble tiles wrap the floor and rear shower wall, fading from white to grey in a carefully controlled gradient. The sharpness of the geometry is softened by the natural textures, creating a space that feels both precise and serene. Bespoke joinery by Andrew Morton brings warmth and nuance to the interiors. Patterned timber adds softness to clean-lined cabinetry, with playful detailing in the dressing areas that balances the rigour of the architectural language. The result is a home that feels tailored, not styled — where every detail is considered, and every space responds to the needs of its occupants. MWAI delivered the project from concept to completion, including architecture, interiors, and project management.
