A residential extension and remodel in Caterham, Surrey and due for construction in 2022. The extension is sympathetic to the original property whilst still opening up the current, cramped ground floor to provide a light-filled open plan living/dining/kitchen room. A separate sitting room has also been incorporated and this room offers a view of a mature Japanese maple tree, encouraging a feeling of calm within the space (closed off from the kids!). Whilst the extension is a generous size, it was still designed within the rules of Permitted Development, allowing a simpler planning approval process than a full planning application would have required.
