MSA were commissioned by a private developer to design residential accommodation for a prominent site overlooking the river Mersey to the West. The site is steeply sloped with a level difference of more than 8m over its full length. It is also bordered by a picturesque sloping park to the South. We worked with the client to produce several preliminary sketch schemes before deciding upon a contemporary design of terraced town-houses and an adjoining block of 4 apartments. The entire development is unified by a sculptural roof that 'flows' down the slope towards the river. Due to the scheme's contemporary design and complications with the existing condition of the site it was necessary for MSA to work closely with the local authority in order to produce an striking design that eventually received planning approval.
