Featured on Grand Designs TV, Muswell Hill is new-build family home that links traditional and contemporary architecture. The original brief was to refurbish the existing Victorian villa that stood on the site. However, the villa was of very poor quality and Mulroy recommended a complete rebuild. Even though the house was in a conservation area and on Metropolitan Open Land, we managed the planning process to enable the house to be rebuilt with a significantly larger floor area, upgraded to current building regulations, and to allow the client to save almost £200,000 of VAT making the larger project affordable.
