Shaftesbury Hall provides a purpose-built call centre for the North London Samaritans and a hall for the local community on the site of a Victorian chapel built for railway workers, known locally as the ‘Tine Tabernacle’. The new hall is highly-insulated with low-energy services that reduce running costs yet preserve the details and form of the original building. Shaftesbury Hall has been reinstated as a local landmark in the exact footprint of the original structure, providing a social hub that the local area lacked and anchoring the integral, lifesaving role of the North London Samaritans within the community.
