As part of Capital Shopping Centre’s continuous programme of improvements at the Metrocentre, Gateshead, Mountford Pigott was asked to design a landmark Food and Drink development to help link the Metrocentre with the recently acquired Metro Retail Park which is located to the West of the main centre. The resulting MetrOasis development was conceived as a "stepping stone" for visitors walking between the many attractions in the Metrocentre area. The scheme is striking in its design and use of materials, with an eye-catching pod unit on the prominent front corner of the site that has rapidly become a local landmark. High quality hard and soft landscaping add to the attractiveness of the scheme, which was fully let prior to commencement to Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Harvester and Toby Inn.
