This project is located on the busy South Circular road in London Borough of Lambeth. The site is a long triangular shape with many large TPO’d trees around the boundaries. It is located on the boundary of Brixton Hill and Streatham Hill, adjacent to Christchurch, a Listed church with a unique Venetian style tower. The new four storey building replaces a single Victorian villa which had become run down and neglected, the form of the new roof especially had to respond to the local buildings and the church in particular. MortonScarr has made a series of significant amendments to the original planning scheme and re-planned the floors to create a Doctors Surgery at ground and first floor, and a pharmacy at ground floor. A single three-storey house sites to the side, with 17 residential apartments on the upper floors above the surgery spaces. The top floor apartments have been uniquely designed within the roof space and include vaulted roof zones which create large volumes with bespoke lighting features. The flats are a mix of one, two and three bedroom units and all feature high specification finishes with bespoke bathroom and kitchen designs. Following the completion of the technical design, MortonScarr oversaw the appointment of the Main Contractor and administered the Building Contract through to completion.
