Alteration to existing property, Brownfield site, Listed Building - Grade II, Within a Conservation Area
The Byre , Lantern Courtyard, The Street , Bramley , TADLEY , Hampshire , RG26 5DE
This conversion of a 16th century oak-framed threshing barn sees a former agricultural building transformed into contemporary residential accommodation. The clean architectural lines of the modern interior contrast with the expressed oak-frame, which has been traditionally restored and left exposed to show-off the original intent of its historic structure, creating a home with dramatic effect. The original threshing-cart entrances have been fully glazed, the external walls clad in ship-lap timber boarding above brick and flint skirts and the thatched roof restored, which combine to produce a barn conversion of splendid proportion sitting comfortably into its context.
