New Build
Designed by CFA Voysey in 1896 as a country cottage and artist's studio, Hill Close is quite modest in scale with low stone tiled eaves hugging the contours of its heathland site with fabulous views of Poole Harbour and across to the Isle of Wight. Many changes were made and extra bits added through the 20 th Century. Then a new owner with taste and high expectations inspired by the setting and enthused by the opportunity to reinstate Voysey's vision and the challenge of paying respect to one of Architecture's heroes. The original plan has been reinstated, fireplaces replaced and 300sq m of extensions stripped away. In their place a long low lead and grass topped pavilion sits back as part of the landscape with all of its service spaces underground. The new spaces make a lovely sunny living environment with their sliding glass walls and stone paving running out into the gardens. A fun project for a caring client.
