Situated on a prominent and important site at the entrance to Chichester Harbour , the site presented the opportunity to create a landmark building. Following negotiations with the Planning Authority, Harbour Conservancy, English Nature and Environment Agency, the scheme was granted Planning Permission in November 1995. After gaining funding from Sport England, the new Club House was completed in March 2003 replacing a decaying but much loved old clubhouse and providing a new facility for sailors of all standards up to Olympic level whilst retaining much of the ambience of the original building. The new Club facilities are world class and have commanding views over the harbour and its racing areas. Ringed by balconies and glazing, spectators have a grandstand view of the racing at any time of year and in all weather conditions. The Club sits on an outstanding site which now has a building to complement it.
