Our goal is clear: to craft a more spacious and functional home environment that adds value and convenience for the entire family. Stage 0: Strategic Definition At the project’s inception, we engaged in meaningful conversations with the homeowners to understand their vision. Our focus is on expanding the kitchen lounge area with extended skylights, transforming it into an inviting and warm space. The project’s scope also includes reimagining the ground floor to accommodate a utility room, WC, pantry, and an open-plan kitchen lounge area. Stage 1: Preparation and Brief During this phase, we conducted comprehensive site surveys and gathered essential data to inform the feasibility study and initial design concepts. Collaborating closely with the homeowners, we incorporated their input to shape the vision for the extension. Stage 2: Concept Design Building upon the insights gathered, we crafted innovative concept designs that harmoniously blend the existing mid-terrace property’s character with modern sensibilities. The extended skylights take center stage, strategically placed to usher in natural light and illuminate the kitchen lounge space. Stage 3: Developed Design As we progress to the Developed Design stage, the initial sketches evolve into detailed plans. Our priority is to optimize the placement of the skylights to create an atmosphere of warmth and openness. The kitchen lounge area is being transformed into a functional hub for family activities, enhancing the rhythm of daily life. Stage 4: Technical Design Advancing into the Technical Design phase (RIBA Stage 4), close collaboration with a structural engineer ensured the structural integrity of the extension. Throughout, our unwavering commitment to environmental consciousness remained paramount. We are pleased to highlight that our strategic implementation of a warm flat roof, triple-glazed windows, and meticulous insulation has yielded significant improvements in thermal efficiency. Additionally, we undertook SAP calculations, underscoring our dedication to delivering a space that seamlessly marries sustainability and functionality.
