New Build
The Trust wanted a building that was as susainable as possible. A derelict barn was taken down and rebuilt using the original timbers. The walls were infilled with hemp/lime panels and overclad externally with larch and the floor was laid using hemp/lime blocks laid on a sand bed with no plastic membranes. Heating is provided by wood-chip boiler and elecricity is generated on site by a 6kw turbine. Waste water is treated in reed beds.
