A modern extension to a 1970’s house in Bath. The ‘wrap around’ design replaces a number of smaller ad hoc extensions to bring the house visually together and give a contemporary design uplift in appearance. Generous open plan living space is created with a kitchen and eating area together with a separate larder, study and den all in line to meet today’s modern family requirements. With careful attention to detail a structural column has been avoided at the corner to prevent obscuring the best views from a prominent level overlooking Royal Victoria Park and the townscape of Bath. Being located in a Conservation Area and World Heritage Site it was successful challenge to obtain Planning Permission for a contemporary design.
