Completed in May 2010, the 40 bedroom Soho House Berlin is housed in a late Bauhaus structure located in the heart of the Mitte district. Michaelis Boyd successfully combined classical elements reflecting the old Berlin lifestyle with a more modern industrial aesthetic. Exposed concrete beams are combined with traditional panelling to create a marriage of two styles. The palette of bold patterns, luxury fabrics, jewel-like colours and fun geometric floor patterns create unique spaces. By day, sunlight pours through the windows, and by night, the twinkling chandeliers become one with Berlin’s city lights. The lower levels of the 1928 building house restaurants, bars and a private cinema, while the rooftop swimming pool offers panoramic views of the Mitte district. On the upper levels running from the 3rd – 6th floor, the 40 bedrooms pay homage to the past. The 1930’s & 40’s decoration is presented through fabric tones, unique furniture pieces, art deco lighting and traditional sanitary- ware.
