Listed Building - Grade II*
Battersea Power Station is the largest brick building in Europe and one of the most significant surviving examples of Art Deco architecture. Having lain untouched for over thirty years this iconic Grade II* Listed building is in the process of being restored and refurbished to create a vibrant new destination. Michaelis Boyd designed the 254 individual luxury apartments within the Power Station, bringing life back into one of London’s most famous buildings. Ranging from studio apartments to five-bedroom penthouses, the apartments are located on top of the central boiler house and within the power station’s distinctive western and eastern facades. To reflect the history and heritage of the iconic structure, Michaelis Boyd drew inspiration from the building’s original materials and details and has ensured that each apartment includes distinct references to the power station. Two styles were developed, one reflecting 1933 when the A Station was built, and the other based on the late 1940s when the B Station was being constructed. Every item has been carefully specified with tactility and aesthetics in mind. Meticulous attention to detail was essential to ensure the highest quality. The apartments have been designed for modern living through an elegant reinterpretation of a bygone era.
