This is an urban renewal scheme for 500 homes in the notoriously run-down and inaccessible Fatima Mansions Estate for Dublin City Council. The regeneration of the estate was triggered by the new Luas tram halt, which opened in 2004 and has put work opportunities, retail and city-wide leisure within a few minutes ride. Metropolitan Workshop renegotiated the original masterplan with the stakeholders, adding two new streets which increased residential frontage and made the LUAS, new park and neighbouring community more accessible to the residents. The medium-rise residential city blocks are set over shops and new community facilities, including a creche, community hall, which opens onto the park, and a leisure club with gym and pool.
