Integrated landscape and architectural design to turn this 6 hectares of former brownfield into a Muslim cemetery. Particular emphasis was placed on the function of surfacing materials to sustainably manage water movement & define pedestrian & vehilcular routes throughout the site. Dilapidated brick built storage buildings were demolished, redesigned & constructed to host male & female prayer halls, visitor wash facilities and funerary functions as well as staff administrative services. The buildings & landscape setting serve to address the specific needs of the local & wider community as a place of remembrance & contemplation.
