A strategic plan was developed for the school to create the space for a new performing arts facility centred around the existing dining hall, kitchen and music school. The site is a conservation area in the context of a grade 2 listed building and the strategic plan was adopted by the local authority as 'Supplementary Planning Guidance' in the Local Plan. The new buildings of the Performing Arts Centre include a 350 seat theatre and foyer / bar, approvals for a 200 seat recital room (yet top be built) and all the relevant back up facilites for both these. The project also involved the refurbishment of the existing dining room and kitchen over two summer holiday periods, and alterations to the music school and existing school hall. To make way for this development, the strategic plan identified that the Changing Rooms and School Shop had to be relocated first and these were designed and completed beforehand.
