Harper House was originally an emergency accommodation facility. The council purchased it in 2016 as temporary accommodation for homeless families. However, the layout proved difficult for those with mobility issues. The old building was demolished and a brand new facility was designed. Harper House now has twenty self-contained rooms used as emergency housing for local families. In addition, two of the rooms are wheelchair accessible. There is also a communal laundry and and an office from where a support service is provided.
