Why Not Associates are a multi -disciplinary graphic and communications studio creating highly innovative and varied work. Their projects range from postage stamps to large scale exhibitions and installations. Previous clients include the Design Museum , Royal Academy of Arts and Malcolm McLaren. The client wanted a new home which would reflected their needs for new spatial organisation whilst communicating a quite authority. The concept for the interior had to be creative yet appropriate. Clear spatial arrangements , specialist lighting and careful selection of materials provide the backdrop to the new studio. The interior will slowly evolve as the designers continue to add their own work to it. The single room studio was required for a variety of uses. The design explored issues of solidity , translucency and monumental furniture installation. Three large cantilevered tables with integrated cable management provided the basis for the working areas, whilst two subsidiary rooms linking visually into the buildings central courtyard and at the same time the main studio , housed the meeting room and film editing suite. Within a single space studio, McDaniel Woolf have responded with an interior which combines clear spatial arrangement , unique furniture design and careful use of materials, colour and finishes. The final impression is of a unique studio environment which provides a back drop to the creative energies of an innovative and experimental graphic company.
