Locally listed by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames as a Building of Townscape Merit and located within a conservation area. Open plan living is all about free-flowing spaces. Modern central heating, combined with energy-efficient glazing and insulation, have enabled our homes to be adapted and walls removed to suit our more informal lifestyles. This means a more spacious layout, better views through the house and a connection with the garden. To maximise the use of the spaces, we demolished structural walls to incorporate the hallway and original Victorian staircase into the main, ground floor living room. The addition of a new, feature staircase, within a modern structural glass side extension, connects directly down to the lower ground floor, moving easily from living, to kitchen, to dining areas. The luxury kitchen includes a glass-fronted wine store, which continues the open plan theme.
