Richmond upon Thames
£100,000 to £249,999
Listed Building - Grade II
This eclectic, Grade II listed property was originally built in 1790, with several extensions added over the decades. With approval from Historic England, our brief was to upgrade the upper-floor bedrooms, dressing rooms and bathrooms to meet the needs of a young family in the 21st century, while restoring the original features where possible. Pre-planning included lengthy consultation with conservation officers from the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Our work included detailing new joinery and interior finishes, as well as the restoration of timber panelling and sash windows. We sympathetically integrated modern marble bathrooms, contemporary lighting and audio-visual installations. The final outcome satisfied all parties, without compromising the architectural integrity of the original building. Richard Woolf is a RIBA Conservation Registrant, with experience of working on the repair, maintenance, alteration and refurbishment of heritage buildings.
