Overlooking the much-loved South Park Gardens in Wimbledon, south west London, this Edwardian house is a world away from before. A sense of calm pervades despite its urban context. Through a tactile and warm approach to architectural detailing and minimalism, this bold yet quietly resolving family home now enhances the character of the street, and is a contemporary equivalent to the existing brick homes along Kings Road. Our design re-establishes the design principles of the wider South Park Gardens Conservation area – reinstating new brickwork in place of white render – together with a new single storey rear and side extension, a new sheltered front porch, bay window extension, an inset dormer to the front roof slope, a full width dormer at the rear, generous open living spaces full of light and warmth, and two extra bedrooms to the now five-bedroom, family home.
