Originally re-developed by Studio RHE where Dickon Hayward acted as lead Architect prior to forming Material Works, we have since been employed in a series of adaptations including the re-furbishment of several floors, facade alternations, additional amenity and external staircase structures. The refurbishment of the Import and Export buildings has brought new life into East India Dock. The works included the addition of a timber atrium structure to the Import building which extended the floor area and modernised the interior. The campus now houses a number of universities and commercial tenants and offers a mixed use student hub with bars, a gym, meeting rooms, lecture theatres and grocery shops. The wider Republic masterplan was completed over a period of five years, with additional projects for fit-out of workspaces and the addition of emergency escape stairs to both buildings ongoing with Material Works. The surrounding landscape has undergone extensive planting and greening upgrades.
