Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area, Listed Building - Grade II
54 Regent Studios , 8 Andrews Road , London , E8 4QN , United Kingdom
This project involved the careful removal of an outdated and inefficient conservatory, replaced with a contemporary extension that significantly enlarges the kitchen and dining area. Expansive glazing has been introduced to draw natural light deep into the home, enhancing both the sense of space and connection to the garden. A newly landscaped, lowered terrace creates a seamless flow between the interior and exterior, enabling the kitchen to open directly onto the garden and reinforcing the relationship between the house and its surroundings. Inside, the space is defined by warm natural oak joinery and a bespoke kitchen bar crafted from laser-cut mild steel, adding material richness and precision. Through detailed and sensitive planning, an additional WC has been discreetly integrated at lower ground level. Above, a compact yet efficient new volume accommodates a dedicated home office — a much-needed workspace tailored to modern living. Working within the constraints of a listed building in a conservation area, the project demonstrates a respectful yet inventive approach. The reconfiguration has transformed a dark and outdated kitchen into a light-filled, welcoming heart of the home, while introducing flexible spaces that support the evolving needs of the family.
