A leading visual effects company will be housed in three adjoining grade 2 listed buildings in Spitalfields, which will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment. The project involves the covering of an external courtyard with a glazed glulam timber frame, creating new internal space that will serve as a reception area, lobby, and break out space. The site comprises three street-facing buildings from the 18th century and a 1960s light-industrial building extension. The refurbishment seeks to celebrate and enhance the architectural character of both the 18th and 20th century buildings, reinstating original features and emphasizing the contemporary nature of the 1960s buildings. A glazed glulam frame will tie the 18th and 20th century building fabric together, creating a seamless transition between them.
