New Build, Sited in AONB, Sited in Greenbelt land
This bespoke single-storey home sits within the lower paddock at Greenacres, preserving the original garden and landscape. Its three-bedroom plan is arranged around a central living zone that faces south-west, drawing in daylight and opening onto a sheltered outdoor terraces. The master suite and two guest rooms occupy separate wings, each with built-in storage and direct connections to the surrounding landscape. ?The exterior combines local stone, vertical timber cladding and a low-profile metal roof, topped by a living green roof for enhanced insulation. This restrained palette and modest scale help the building recede behind the site’s dry-stone walls and hedgerows. Generous windows and sliding doors frame meadow views, provide natural ventilation and optimise solar gain. Performance is integral: designed to passive-house principles, high levels of insulation, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery and provisions for solar panels and battery storage keep running costs low. Located in the Nidderdale National Landscape, the design meets AONB guidelines through its subservient form, responsibly sourced materials and concentration of all new build work within the paddock. The result is a highly efficient, context-driven home that treads lightly on its surroundings while delivering modern comfort for its owners.
