Alteration to existing property
Prama House, 267 Banbury Road, Summertown , Oxford , OX2 7HT , United Kingdom
The Sea Captain’s House is a stone building complex located on a hillside plot of land in the south part of, what locals call Pelješac. The complex contains of 3-storey house, typical of the style on the Dalmatian Coast, and its later addition of a plain square concrete-box geometry. The site also overlooks the coast line providing great vistas. Clients wishes the house was to become a holiday accommodation and the extension was to make a delightful family home. The Sea Captain’s House, was restored and divided into six double-bedrooms with adjacent en-suites and sea view each. The modern addition became a duplex flat with a spiral staircase leading onto the third-floor green roof terrace providing panoramic views across scenic surroundings. The original subterranean parts of the two structures had to be tanked, reinforced and insulated before the proposed works could commence. The clients found most of the original fabric dilapidated therefore in need of modernisation. In the effect, the front elevation was restored in local stone, new joinery and shatters fitted as well as roofs rebuilt. Although traditional in its external appearance we have designed modern minimal interior with quality fittings and furniture. The complex was equipped with most up-to-date service infrastructure meeting demands of modern holidaymakers.
