Years of unsuitable modifications had compromised its character, prompting a sensitive transformation by Mailen Design. The project stripped the building back to its structural oak timber frame, repairing it with lime mortar and eco-friendly wood fibre insulation. A natural lime render revitalises the façade, blending sustainability with heritage. Inside, a modern design approach highlights the beauty of uncovered historic materials, celebrating the house’s rich architectural legacy whilst creating a refined, contemporary family home.
