New Build
mæ was appointed, with Atkins, following a competition run through the HCA framework by City of Westminster. The project is a 6000m2 flagship health centre and community hub with additional residential dwellings at the crossroads of Lisson Grove, Lilestone Street and Church Street in London NW8. The scheme is designed to reprovide and enhance an existing health centre which includes a GP surgery, a dental surgery and other community healthcare services. The rest of the building will be open for additional community uses, which are to be defined with the help of resident groups and could include a café, a pharmacy, a nursery and healthy living related facilities. Our L-shaped proposal redefines the corner of the urban block and creates a strong single entrance to the community hub and health centre. A central atrium aids navigation, brings light into the heart of the building and provides views through the building to the community growing gardens in the courtyard beyond.
