Re-design of existing Food Technology Department, including a single-storey extension accommodating a new Bistro area. Associated landscaping design, including new herb gardens, decked BBQ area, and a feature external ramp so that all can access and enjoy the scheme. The design is understated yet original and adds to the exciting restaurant style experience of cooking. Pupils are encouraged to explore new recipe ideas in the research room, and bring those ideas to reality using new commercial-grade kitchen equipment and individual workstations. To complete the experience, pupils can serve their food creations to other pupils, staff and visitors in the adjoining Bistro. The curved extension, with various natural lighting solutions, offers an open plan space allowing flexibility to also use for school meetings and functions. Interior design finishes throughout are clean and simple, allowing easy ongoing maintenance. Bistro furniture, lighting and architectural features are used to bring colour and design to the space.
