Threestoneburn is a remote farmhouse set in ten acres, deep in Northumberland National Park. A Grade II listed house dating from 1790, Threestoneburn is constructed from local granite under a slate roof and includes two stone barns of a similar age with a more recently added steel Dutch barn. The proposal, granted planning consent in 2009, connected the stone barn to the house to create a library, bedroom and bathroom. A new build green oak clad space to the west balances the composition and houses kitchen and bathroom, while a Corten steel garage completes the courtyard. The historic building has been conserved while the minimal interior seamlessly links old and new.
