New Build
Located opposite the Ritz Hotel entrance, The Walpole is a pair of grand terrace houses and rear extensions, one of which was the home of Sir Robert Walpole, First British Prime Minister and his son the famous Horace Walpole. Mike MacAusland designed a complete scheme for the detailed interiors of this incredible project. Every room/suite in a different style according to the clients list of interests, the property is one of the capitals most interesting housing developments to have taken place in recent years. The level of detail that went into each rooms design was exceptional. The entire historic interiors had been lost and I commenced work on this project when the building was bare bricks and concrete floors. The technical challenges were significant, the level of craftsmanship required was very high, much time was spent in discussions with specialist craftsmen and artisans determining how specific detailing could be achieved. The client was very happy with the result and I continued to work with them for a number of projects afterwards.
