In February 2012 LGH were appointed by Willmott Dixon to undertake a new UTC at refurbished premises on the Kingsland site in Houghton Regis. Part of the refurbishment also includes a new build, two storey classroom block, accommodating new facilities for teaching product design. The major specialism of the UTC will be engineering with design as the subsidiary specialism. The UTC will support primarily two differing local authorities of Central Bedfordshire and Luton provides 300 places for 14-16, 300 places for 16-18 and 50 places for 19+ from September 2012. The first phase of the refurbishment works opened for the first students in September 2012 with the new building opening scheduled for completion in March 2013.
