In 2010 LGH were part of a successful team bidding with Willmott Dixon for the new Academy. The two-storey design sits between the retained sports hall and assembly hall. The plan form is based around a central entrance hub, around which three spoked teaching wings radiate. The teaching wings are 2 storey with a generous circulation core at the centre of the plan, with second floor facilities locally to this central hub. The Academy is designed to accommodate 740 pupils with the potential to expand up to 1100 pupils via the addition of a further academic wing.? All Saints Academy, were keen to create a wide variety of well-lit, comfortable, practical and stimulating learning environments and provide a new focus for the wider community. The atrium forms the point of entry into the heart of the new Academy at the focal intersection of the three academic wings, all of which are highly visible at each level from the central atrium. The openness and visibility into the wings at each level creates a stimulating central zone giving tremendous opportunity to display the Academy’s work. Work commenced onsite in Spring 2011, and was opened by The Archbishop of Canterbury in September 2012.
